Frequently Asked Questions

for Polyvagal Informed Productivity “AKA” The Weekly Sweep

  • I created this 8 week group course for people who are struggling with getting organized and moving forward toward their goals in a consistent way. Anyone with executive functioning challenges.

This includes but is not limited to people with ADHD, those who are not sure if they have ADHD but wonder if they might, and those who have experienced trauma.

The purpose of this group is to support you in building attention and emotional regulation skills so we focus on learning and implementing basic concepts (simple, but not easy). This means beginners are not only welcome, but encouraged to ask questions to help us all return to the incredibly useful “beginner’s mind.” In short, there’s no way to mess up in this group! And anyone looking to improve their ability to, “do what they said they would do”, are welcome.

  • This group is not a replacement for individual therapy and it is not group therapy. It is however a very good foundation for self-help and for future therapy, should you choose to pursue it.

I’ve had many other therapists refer clients to me who have had trouble in their sessions following through on therapy homework or staying focused in session.

This group aims to help with the skills required to navigate those challenges.

Once you have a stronger grasp of regulating, it may feel easier to face overwhelming challenges and patterns in your life because you will likely have more trust and confidence in your ability to deal with things one step at a time (as opposed to all and nothing 🙃).

  • I have mixed feelings about recording in general, so I have landed on the following:

Sessions will be recorded to help me capture important insights and refine my teaching skills and materials. I will not share these recordings in order to help promote a feeling of safety in the group and also to not promote the feeling of being “behind” if you’ve missed a week.

What I will aim to do instead: capture the most important insights/interesting tips that we’ve come up with each week and share them with everyone as a summary from each session. This way, we all benefit from reviewing the most important parts and you won’t have to listen to the whole hour.

If you have any questions or comments about this decision please do email me, I’d be very happy to know what you think about this.

  • Me too! I thought I always preferred individual sessions, but that is slowly changing.

Despite the initial tightness I feel in my stomach and the windy/foggy swirling in my head, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the synergies only a group can bring.

Once I regulate a bit and connect with the topic, I almost always experience insights that would not have come through a conversation with one person. The nuance and diversity that comes from a group conversation seems to accelerate the insight process.

It is true that groups require a bit of vulnerability, but how much you choose to participate will always be up to you.

Here are the group guidelines to help keep the space safe.

  • Of course 😊 If you don’t want to be partnered in this group course, just let me know in the survey I will send out before the first session.

I do still recommend body doubling as an effective strategy for supporting executive functioning, so you will be provided with instructions you can use with a friend, partner or member of your family.

If you really want to keep this process to yourself, I do have an idea we can experiment with. It will be a part of the just as important self-coaching section of our group.

  • Before the first class I will send out a survey to fill out for everyone who is interested in being partnered up.

I will do my best to pair people up based on similarities around life stage, interest, focusing experience and time zones.

If you find that you’re unable to meet regularly with your partner or it doesn’t feel like a good fit, just let me know and we will navigate it together.

  • You don’t have to do anything here 🤗 And… it is highly recommended that you make an effort to show up each week. Whether or not you had a “successful” week. This will be a great opportunity to encounter and work through the speed bumps that keep you from following through. It is a low-stakes way to practice and the very way you will build the skills you’re looking to improve on.

If for some reason you really can’t make it to a session or two, I will still capture interesting insights and ideas from the session and share them as summaries for everyone after.

Another theme we will be practicing in the group: good enough instead of perfect 😉

  • I really feel strongly about this topic and I’ve had a lot of fun iterating on this group. While I can’t predict exactly how this group will continue to iterate moving forward, I do see myself continuing with this topic for a long time. If you have requests for a specific day of the week/time of day or format, please let me know!

So far everyone I have spoken to have (unanimously) requested live sessions, no pre-recorded version. 😂 I get it, I have my line up of courses purchased that have yet to be watched. So it is unlikely that I will offer a self-directed course at this time.

  • Great question 😅 As a result of feedback, I did want to make sure that I accurately represented what we’re doing. I’m sure I will continue to tweak it, but the essence of this has stayed the same: suporting people to create consistency in their lives in a non-pathologizing, non-shaming way.

Congruent with Focusing Oriented Therapy and traditional ADHD coaching, I did realize that partnerships are a key piece to regulating. After introducing partnerships, it was recommended that we go for an 8 week run instead of 4 weeks at a time.

Note: I am slowly learning about Internal Family Systems therapy and there will be some concepts from this therapeutic approach incorporated as well.

  • In this version, I’m planning to engage with the skills more. I might have a few short videos for you to watch about the concepts, outside of our time together (YouTube style), but we will be focused on the practical and experiential pieces more than the research.

  • You are welcome to try the first group class and if it doesn’t feel like the right fit, you will receive a full refund.

  • I am happy to offer a number of “pay what you can” spots in this group course. Please email me directly to enroll with this option.

I am flexible and will be happy to accommodate your needs, and also have the following guidelines to help you with your gut check of what feels doable for you right now:

Full price: $400 + HST CAD
Sliding scale level 1: $300 + HST CAD
Sliding scale level 2: $200 + HST CAD
Sliding scale level 3: $80 + HST CAD
Sliding scale level 4: $8 + HST CAD (Yes! $8 if you need it! It’s not a typo.)

Pricing options above are for all 8 weeks.

Please email me if you need any of these options.

Check out how to do a gut check exercise here (coming soon!).

  • They say a psychotherapist’s specialization is often a thinly veiled biography 🫣

While I don’t qualify for an ADHD diagnosis, I do sometimes get text messages from my partner with a photo of the open bathroom drawers and cabinet doors after I’ve left. Make of that what you will ☺️
